Replacement part for ASTRA 121 – mounting foot cover
A plastic cover fitted onto the mounting foot of the ASTRA 121 tyre changer. The component operates directly at the point of contact between the mounting foot and the rim, forming a protective layer that separates the metal part of the head from the surface of the rim.
The cover is contoured to fit the mounting foot and features side clips to hold it securely in place. It reduces the risk of scratching painted and alloy rims when sliding the mounting blade under the foot and rotating the mounting table.
This is not a complete mounting foot. It is a replaceable protective cover fitted over the existing foot on the ASTRA 121 tyre changer.

When does the cover need replacing?
In practice, wear often begins with the development of play in the clips. The cover may then shift relative to the foot as the foot passes over the rim flange, even if it does not yet appear cracked from the outside. An early sign is a change in the cover’s position after a few demounting cycles, or a noticeable clicking sound when pressing the foot against the rim.
Replacement is also required if the sliding surface is worn, the guide edge is rounded, or the side latches are cracked or deformed. Damage to the part that runs over the rim flange is particularly dangerous — even a slight displacement of the cover there can expose the metal of the tyre bead.
If recurring, arched scratches appear on the rims in the area where the head operates, one should not limit the investigation to the mounting paste and the operator’s technique. The cause may be a worn cover, its displacement, or contact between the rim and the exposed metal edge of the bead seat.
Implications for other components
Working with a damaged cover accelerates the wear of the mounting foot itself. The metal edge may become polished, develop burrs or become deformed at the point of contact with the rim. Such a burr then damages the new cover from the inside and increases the risk of damage to subsequent rims.
If the cover is not held securely in place, pressing it down further during fitting will not solve the problem — it may simply push the component out of its catches and cause it to fall out whilst the table is rotating. After fitting the replacement, check that the cover fits snugly against the rim flange along its entire length and that there is no noticeable lateral movement.
Selection and fitting
Before ordering, compare the shape of the foot on your machine with the profile shown in the photographs. Among similar tyre changers, there may be covers that look similar but have a different spacing or shape of the clips.
During fitting, the cover should fit onto the foot without the need for trimming, reaming or bending the clips. If excessive force is required, or if the cover remains twisted after fitting, this indicates a mismatch in the profile or damage to the base foot.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
- Device model
- Year of manufacture
- Serial number
- If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.
For the return to be accepted, the part must:
- be unused and undamaged,
- show no signs of installation,
- be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.
We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
