Red audible alarm with LED indicator, 220V AC, AD16-22SM
The AD16-22SM is a panel-mounted audible and visual alarm for equipment powered by 220V AC. When the circuit is activated, it generates an audible signal and simultaneously indicates the status with a red, flashing light. It is suitable for use as a local alarm for faults, machine stoppages, safety device activation or the end of an operating cycle.
In workshop machinery, it can function as part of a control or signalling circuit on the machine’s control panel. Thanks to the combination of an audible and visual signal, the operator does not need to constantly monitor the panel to notice a change in the machine’s status.
Technical data
| Model | AD16-22SM |
| Function | audible and visual signalling, flashing mode |
| Operating voltage | AC 220V |
| Maximum operating current | 20 mA |
| Lampshade colour | red |
| Overall height | 6.5 cm |
| Top diameter | 2.9 cm |
| Body diameter | 2 cm |
| Markings on the housing | CE, IEC 947-5-1, EN 60947-5-1 |
Note when selecting: the AC 220V marking refers to alternating current. Do not supply this variant with 12V or 24V, nor connect it directly to a direct current circuit.
Installation and connection
The indicator is designed for installation in a control panel. Before ordering, compare the diameter of the mounting hole and the available depth behind the panel with the dimensions of the component you have. The diameter of the lens itself is not the dimension of the mounting hole.
The connection is made in the circuit intended to trigger the alarm. For 220V installations, disconnect the power supply before working, secure the wires to prevent them from being pulled out, and fit a cover to prevent accidental contact with the terminals. In the machine, the signal device should be activated by the appropriate relay contact, a limit switch or a control system output rated for 220V AC.
If the existing buzzer previously operated only as an audible alarm, check before installation whether its control circuit is suitable for a version with a warning light. You should also adhere to the activation method specified by the machine manufacturer — permanently altering the power supply cable may result in continuous signalling instead of an alarm triggered only under specific conditions.
Signs of a fault during machine operation
- the audible signal becomes intermittent in a manner other than that intended by the design, or ceases despite the presence of voltage,
- the red light does not flash, is dimmer than usual or responds with a delay,
- the alarm only activates when the cable is moved or the housing is pressed, which may indicate a problem with a terminal or a connection in the circuit,
- the alarm triggers spontaneously when the panel vibrates — before replacing it, it is worth checking the stability of the wires and the contacts of the component that activates the alarm.
According to the manufacturer’s documentation, the AD16-22 series has a declared electrical life of at least 40,000 hours, a sound level of at least 80 dB at a distance of 10 cm, and an IP40 protection rating. IP40 indicates protection against solid objects with a diameter of 1 mm or more, but not against water — the buzzer should not be installed in a location directly exposed to coolant, water or intensive cleaning.
Consequences of neglect: a faulty buzzer may leave the operator unaware that a safety device has been triggered or that the cycle has stopped. In practice, this delays the response to an overload, a limit switch fault or abnormal machine operation; therefore, the audible and visual signals must be checked together with the function of the circuit that triggers them.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
- Device model
- Year of manufacture
- Serial number
- If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.
For the return to be accepted, the part must:
- be unused and undamaged,
- show no signs of installation,
- be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.
We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
