Complete vertical/horizontal ‘mushroom’ actuator, TYPE G
The complete ‘mushroom-type’ actuator is an actuating component of the pneumatic locking mechanism used in tyre changers. Depending on the machine’s design, it operates in either a vertical or horizontal configuration, moving and locking the associated component upon the supply of compressed air.
The design consists of a metal working dome and a black plastic base. The circular surface of the dome bears the load, whilst the base guides the component and is used to mount the actuator in the machine. The product is a complete assembly, not just the dome or the base on its own.
Before ordering, check the diameter, height, spacing of the fixing bolts and the position of the pneumatic connection. With actuators of this type, even a slight difference in the fixing spacing may prevent correct mounting within the mounting bracket.
Technical data
| Type | G – complete vertical/horizontal ‘mushroom’ type actuator |
| Outer diameter | 69 mm |
| Overall height | 53 mm |
| Pneumatic connection | 1/8", dimensional marking in the photo: 8.5 mm |
| Spacing between fixing screws | 31 mm |
| Construction | metal working dome, black plastic base |
Signs of wear or leakage
- the lock responds with a delay or requires the control pedal to be held down for longer,
- the locked component does not stop in the same position after each cycle,
- the actuator moves in jerks rather than smoothly, particularly at low system pressure,
- after the control is cut off, a continuous flow of air can be heard at the connection or base,
- the dome has noticeable play relative to the base, and the clamping mechanism loses positional repeatability.
A worn or leaky actuator slows down the operation of the assembly machine. A drop in clamping force may cause the clamped assembly to shift during operation, whilst repeated ramming to the end of the stroke increases the load on the guides, screws and fasteners.
Installation and operating instructions
- Before installation, check that the position of the connector aligns with the route of the pneumatic hose within the machine. Rotating the actuator from its original position may cause the hose to kink or collide with a moving part.
- Tighten the bolts with care. The base is made of plastic, so excessive torque may damage the mounting sockets or deform the base.
- Do not compensate for leaks by increasing the supply pressure beyond the value specified for the machine. Excessive pressure increases the load on the seals and may accelerate damage to the actuator and locking components.
- If, after replacement, the actuator continues to operate unevenly, the cause may be contamination or resistance in the component guided by the locking mechanism, rather than the new actuator itself.
- When selecting a replacement, check all dimensions at the same time: the diameter of the dome alone is not sufficient to confirm compatibility.
Select the product based on the dimensions and design of the fitted component. The product specifications do not include a specific list of machine models, so before purchasing, compare the actuator with the part fitted in the machine.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
- Device model
- Year of manufacture
- Serial number
- If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.
For the return to be accepted, the part must:
- be unused and undamaged,
- show no signs of installation,
- be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.
We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
