Type D tyre changer bead breaker rubber
Replacement rubber for the tyre bead stopper assembly on a tyre changer. This component operates at the point where the bead stopper contacts the sidewall of the tyre and is designed to transfer pressure to the bead without direct contact between the metal component and the rim.
The profiled working surface stabilises the tyre whilst the bead is being separated from the rim flange. Worn, flattened or hardened rubber may cause the beader to slip, requiring greater force to be applied and transferring pressure to the rim flange rather than to the tyre bead.
In the Ravaglioli tyre-changing machine manuals, the manufacturer emphasises that the bead breaker should apply pressure to the tyre bead, not to the rim. Before starting work, the bead should be properly lubricated, as a dry or deformed sidewall increases the load on the beader and its rubber.

What to look out for when choosing
Before ordering, you should compare not only the length of the rubber but also the layout of the holes and the shape of the narrowing between the left and right sections. In tyre changers of similar length, differences in the spacing of the mounting points may prevent the component from being screwed on correctly or cause the working surface to shift relative to the tyre bead.
The 21 mm dimension should be treated as the dimension of the hole shown in the dimensional drawing. The final fit must be checked against the removed part and the mounting points on the specific version of the tyre changer. The name ‘Type D’ alone does not replace a comparison of the geometry and hole spacing.
Signs of wear during operation
- the rubber bouncing back or the deflector sliding along the side of the tyre instead of the bead peeling away smoothly,
- the need to press the deflector deeper or with greater force than before,
- localised pressure marks on the rim edge, despite the operator being correctly positioned,
- uneven chipping of the profiled surface, causing the deflector to shift position as the wheel rotates,
- vibrations and impacts being transmitted to the beater arm and its mounting.
If the rubber does not maintain stable contact with the bead, the operator often compensates for this by applying greater pressure via the cylinder or lever. Such operation may overload the beader’s mounting, deform the sidewall of the tyre and increase the risk of damage to the rim flange. First, check the condition of the rubber, its alignment and the lubrication of the foot — do not increase the impact force unnecessarily.
Fitting and operation
Once fitted, the tyre should lie flat against the entire surface of the beader, without any curling or tension around the holes. Uneven tightening can bend the tyre and cause the pressure to concentrate on a single corner.
During tyre removal, the tyre bead should be lubricated with a tyre-mounting compound. Ravaglioli recommends that the bead breaker should act on the bead rather than the rim, and warns against deforming the tyre sidewall during this operation. This applies in particular to stiff, low-profile and run-flat tyres, where worn rubber reveals incorrect beader positioning more quickly.

What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)

What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
