Pedal-mounted valve block – complete, aluminium (Type J)

A complete aluminium pneumatic control valve block for the pedal, used in the control system for the pneumatic functions of a tyre changer. The assembly supplies air to the relevant actuators when the pedal is pressed, and upon release, it should quickly cut off the flow and leave the actuator in the position specified by the machine’s design.

The complete version comprises the valve body with fitted pneumatic connections, a silencer and control components. This solution is designed to replace the entire assembly at the pedal when repairing a single valve does not restore correct operation or when the seals in several sections are worn out simultaneously.

Technical data

Type J
Body material Aluminium
Overall length 155 mm
Pneumatic connections 8 mm – as shown on the dimensional drawing
Spacing of mounting holes 25 mm
Control spindle the threaded part marked as 10 mm in the diagram, the 8 mm part of the pin
Fittings shown in the photograph aluminium body, pneumatic connections, silencers and control components

Before ordering, check the body length, the 25 mm mounting spacing, the diameter and length of the control pin, the position of the 8 mm connections and the sequence of the pneumatic lines. The appearance of the valve alone does not confirm compatibility with a specific tyre changer.

Signs of valve block wear

  • the actuator responds with a delay or does not complete its full stroke despite correct system pressure,
  • when the pedal is released, the actuator does not stop correctly or changes position slowly,
  • the pedal does not return decisively to the neutral position, and the machine’s function remains partially engaged,
  • a constant hissing sound of air can be heard from the vicinity of the valve block, particularly when the pedal is in the rest position,
  • the operation of the clamps, the ram or the table rotation becomes uneven and depends on the speed at which the pedal is pressed.

A leak in the block may cause a drop in pressure throughout the control system. This manifests as slower movement of the actuators, weaker clamping force of the jaws, or the need to engage the compressor more frequently. If the valve fails to cut off the air supply when the pedal is released, the actuator may remain under pressure, which accelerates the wear of seals and increases the load on the hoses and mechanism components.

Selection and fitting

  • Before dismantling, mark the hoses according to their function or take a photograph of their order. Swapping the hoses may reverse the direction of the actuator’s operation or assign a function to the wrong pedal.
  • Check that the threaded spindle is the correct length for connection to the pedal. Screwing it in too far may restrict the valve’s stroke, whilst a thread that is too short will cause play and damage the hole in the pedal.
  • Once the hoses are connected, check the operation of each function when pressing the pedal both quickly and slowly. The valve may only allow air to pass after a few cycles or only when the spindle is in a specific position.
  • Once the pneumatic system is up and running, observe the valve block in the neutral position and whilst the actuators are operating. The earliest sign of a leak is often a faint hissing sound, before the drop in pressure becomes noticeable on the pressure gauge.

Replacing the entire block is particularly advisable if the valve leaks air in the neutral position, the spool has noticeable play, or several pneumatic functions are behaving erratically. Fitting a single component with an incorrect stroke or a different port layout may eliminate one symptom, but leave the other functions operating incorrectly.

Important when selecting

Select the product based on the compatibility of dimensions and the layout of the connections with the installed block: length 155 mm, mounting spacing 25 mm, 8 mm connections and the parameters of the control spindle. Without data from the machine manufacturer, do not assign this valve to a specific model solely on the basis of a similar appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cables do I need for my two-post lift?

Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.

Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:

  • Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
  • Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
  • Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)

The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:

What is my machine's model?
  1. Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
    • Manufacturer
    • Device model
    • Year of manufacture
    • Serial number
  2. If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
Yes, of course.

If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.

For the return to be accepted, the part must:

  • be unused and undamaged,
  • show no signs of installation,
  • be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.

We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
