Solenoid coils for car lifts
Solenoid coils for car lifts, also called solenoid valve coils or magnetic coils, open the lowering valve in the hydraulic system. If the coil does not work, the oil cannot flow back to the tank and the lift will not lower its arms.
This category contains coils for 24 V DC, 24 V AC and 220 V AC, with a 13 mm or 16 mm bore. You can choose a coil on its own, a coil with a lowering valve, a lowering valve with a 19 mm thread and a 24 V DC coil, and coil connectors in 24 V DC and 230 V AC versions.
How to choose a solenoid coil for the lowering valve
You can read all three parameters from the housing or label of the old coil:
- voltage and type of current – 24 V DC, 24 V AC or 220 V AC; a 24 V AC coil and a 24 V DC coil are two different parts, so check the AC/DC marking, not just the voltage,
- bore diameter – 13 mm or 16 mm, matching the valve stem,
- connector – separate for 24 V DC and for 230 V AC; match it to the coil voltage.
A typical sign of a failed coil: when you press the lowering button, you don't hear the valve click. Before you order a new one, check whether voltage reaches the coil while the button is pressed. If there is no voltage, the fault is in the controls (button, relay, limit switch), not in the coil.
Coil only or coil with lowering valve
Replace just the coil when only the electrical part has failed and the valve opens once a new coil is energised. If the lift sinks by itself under load, a leaking lowering valve is a common cause: in that case choose a coil with a lowering valve or a lift valve.
