40 mm tyre-fitting brush for tyre-fitting paste
The brush is used to apply mounting paste to the tyre bead and the rim surface with which the bead comes into contact during fitting and removal. The long handle allows the lubricant to be spread without placing your hand in the working area of the mounting head, the scoop or the pressure roller.
An even layer of paste reduces friction between the bead and the rim and minimises the load on the tyre, the head and the rotation mechanism of the mounting machine’s table. Cover the section of the bead seat that is currently passing over the bead rim — a dry section may cause a sudden increase in resistance, the paste to slide off and localised curling of the bead seat.
Practical tip: if the paste is applied to only one point on the tyre, it may be wiped off the working surface as the wheel rotates. A brush approximately 40 mm wide makes it easier to apply a continuous strip of lubricant to the bead and the rim, without applying an excessive amount of the compound.

Use during tyre fitting
- applying paste to both bead seats before fitting;
- lubricate the rim and bead seat before the tyre passes through the head;
- reapply the compound where it has been worn away by the tool or bead;
- use with low-profile and stiff tyres, where greater bead resistance places a heavier load on the tyre changer head and turntable.
In the manuals for its tyre changers, Ravaglioli recommends lubricating the tyre bead and the rim surface with a suitable tyre lubricant using the brush supplied. The manufacturer’s documentation also specifies that only tyre lubricants should be used — free from water, hydrocarbons and silicone. When selecting a paste, one should therefore consider its intended purpose and not substitute it with oil, technical grease or a random detergent.
A sign of brush wear that is easy to overlook: the bristles may still look fine, but if they clump together into hard tufts and fail to hold the compound, the product is applied unevenly. In practice, this results in dry patches on the base, increased resistance when turning the turntable, and the need to apply more force to the fitting tool.
Operating tips
- Apply the paste to the bead seat and the rim before the tyre begins to pass through the head, rather than only after significant resistance has been felt.
- Do not press the brush between the bead seat and the rotating rim. The brush is used to apply the compound, whilst the bead seat should be pressed down by the tyre changer’s working element.
- If the metal ferrule becomes loose on the handle or the bristles start to fall out, the brush may leave fibres on the bead and fail to provide a continuous lubricating film.
- After use, remove any excess paste from the brush to prevent dried lumps from scratching the rim surface or flaking off during the next lubrication.

What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
