20A main switch
The 20A main switch is used to disconnect the power supply to the equipment via a rotary mechanism. It can be used as a component of the control panel for a lift, mounting machine, balancing machine or other workshop machinery, provided that the equipment’s electrical system utilises this type of switch.
The switch has a yellow front cover and a red rotary knob. This design makes it easy to locate the switch on the machine’s control panel. At the rear, there are four screw terminals in the blue connection section.
Technical data
| Product type | Rotary main switch |
| Rated current | 20 A |
| Connection | 4 screw terminals |
| Front panel height | 64 mm |
| Terminal block height | 48 mm |
| Markings visible on the component | YW26-20, 2CGS |
Selection and installation
Before ordering, compare the 20A rating , terminal layout, switching method, dimensions of the part protruding from the panel and the space required behind the panel. Merely matching the rated current does not guarantee electrical compatibility with a specific machine.
Connect the four screw terminals exactly as shown in the equipment diagram or according to the markings on the old switch. Do not swap the wires based solely on their colours. Before disconnecting the old unit, it is advisable to take a photograph of the connections and label the wires according to the terminal numbers.
During installation, check that the wires are not under tension against the rear of the switch. The force exerted on the terminals when closing the housing may, over time, loosen the connection, cause the contact to overheat and burn the wire end.
Practical post-installation check: after a few operating cycles, check that the terminals show no signs of overheating and that the switch housing does not become noticeably hotter than the device’s front panel. A loose connection at a terminal may cause the contact to heat up and burn out, even though the switch operates correctly when idle.
Signs of switch wear
- power interruption when the knob is moved slightly,
- the need to turn the switch several times for the machine to respond,
- irregular switching on of the appliance or spontaneous stoppages,
- noticeable play in the mechanism or a lack of a distinct stop at the switch position,
- signs of overheating, discolouration of the plastic or melting around the terminals.
A worn-out or overheating switch may cause voltage drops in the power supply circuit. In machines with a motor, this manifests itself, amongst other things, as difficulty starting up, erratic operation or circuit breakers tripping. If the fault is due to a loose terminal, the wire ends and the section of wire adjacent to the terminal must also be checked before fitting a new switch.
The switch should be selected after comparing the markings, number of terminals and dimensions with the component fitted in the machine. If there is no circuit diagram, do not connect it by trial and error, as an incorrect connection may bypass the power cut-off function or cause a short circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
- Device model
- Year of manufacture
- Serial number
- If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.
For the return to be accepted, the part must:
- be unused and undamaged,
- show no signs of installation,
- be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.
We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
