220V/380V/32A rotary switch – 1-position, white

A three-position cam switch for switching power supply circuits in workshop equipment. The photograph shows the three switch positions, six screw terminals and a metal drive shaft that engages with the rotary knob on the machine’s control panel.

The component is shown as item 39 on the parts diagram. Before ordering, please check not only the voltage and current ratings, but also the terminal layout, the number of positions, and the length and diameter of the shaft. A switch with a similar appearance but a different connection diagram may reverse the phase sequence or leave part of the circuit live.

Technical data

Type Rotary, 1-position
Operating voltage 220 V / 380 V
Thermal current Ithe 32 A
Marking on the housing IEC 60947-3, Ithe 32A, Ui 600V, 220/15 AC23, 380/15 AC23
Number of circuits 3 switchable circuits, 6 terminals
Shaft diameter 6 mm
Shaft length approx. 25 mm
Housing dimensions approximately 74 mm long × 57 mm high
Colour White

When selecting: ‘Ithe 32A’ does not indicate a universal switching current for every type of load. The body of this switch also specifies 15A for the AC23 rating at voltages of 220 V and 380 V. For motors, transformers or other inductive loads, selection must be based on the actual operating conditions and the machine’s circuit diagram.

Where the switch is used

The switch is fitted in the control panel of the equipment, where manually turning the shaft changes the state of several electrical circuits simultaneously. In workshop equipment, it may be used to select the power supply mode or to switch the motor circuit; however, the specific application is determined by the machine’s factory circuit diagram. The 220/380 V voltage alone does not guarantee compatibility with every machine.

What to look out for before installation

  • Compare the positioning of all six wires with the diagram of the old switch. Simply matching the wires by colour is not sufficient.
  • Check that the shaft has a diameter of 6 mm and a length of approximately 25 mm. A shaft that is too short may not engage with the knob, whilst one that is too long may cause it to jam against the panel.
  • Check that the switch has an identical arrangement of positions and contact closures. A version with the same number of terminals may have a different connection sequence.
  • After connection, check that the terminals have not been mechanically overloaded by stiff cables. The force exerted by the cable on the terminal may cause the contact to overheat and result in intermittent power cuts.
  • Before working, disconnect the power supply and confirm that there is no voltage on any of the circuits, as in a multi-phase system, switching off a single wire may not disconnect the entire circuit.

Signs of wear in the machine

A worn switch often first manifests itself through erratic motor operation: momentary humming, difficulty starting, the loss of one phase at a specific knob position, or the need to ‘press down’ on the knob for the appliance to operate. If the contact resistance is increased, a single terminal or wire may overheat, even though the other terminals remain cool.

Continued operation with a burnt contact may lead to the terminal burning out, the wire insulation melting, and an uneven power supply to the motor. As a result, not only the switch but also the contactor, the motor protection device or the motor itself may be damaged.

When replacing the switch in a machine that switches itself off automatically, operates noisily or only starts the motor after turning the knob several times, also check the condition of the wire terminals. If a cable has a discoloured or oxidised end, simply fitting a new switch may not resolve the cause of the overheating.

Frequently Asked Questions

What cables do I need for my two-post lift?

Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.

Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:

  • Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
  • Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
  • Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)

The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
Ropes parameter

What is my machine's model?
  1. Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
    • Manufacturer
    • Device model
    • Year of manufacture
    • Serial number
  2. If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
Yes, of course.

If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.

For the return to be accepted, the part must:

  • be unused and undamaged,
  • show no signs of installation,
  • be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.

We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
