Black valve manifold (Type C) for a tyre changer
The valve manifold is a component of the pneumatic control system for a wheel mounting machine. The unit distributes and directs compressed air within the control circuit. It is actuated by a pin mechanism. When selecting a model, compare the body length, the diameters of both pin sections and the mounting spacing.
Technical data
| Type | C |
| Body colour | Black |
| Overall length | 155 mm |
| Shank diameter | 8 mm on the threaded section and 10 mm on the smooth section |
| Mounting spacing | 36 mm |
| Pneumatic connections | 5 connections, including quick-connect couplings for 8 mm diameter hoses |
| Components visible on the manifold | Blue quick-connect couplings and brass air release silencers |
Before ordering, compare the three dimensions: length 155 mm, mounting spacing 36 mm and stepped shank diameter 8/10 mm. The appearance of the manifold alone is not sufficient to confirm a fit.
Signs of wear in the machine
- delayed actuator response when the pedal is pressed, despite correct supply pressure,
- uneven operation of the function controlled by the circuit in question, particularly during rapid, successive cycles,
- a hissing sound of air at the distributor or through the exhaust silencers when the pedal is released,
- the need to press the pedal harder or for longer to achieve full actuator travel,
- the actuator moving slowly of its own accord after the control is released.
Such symptoms do not always indicate a fault with the directional control valve itself. Before replacing it, check the 8 mm hoses for leaks, the fit of the quick-release coupling, the flow through the exhaust silencer and the air supply. If the distributor is leaking air, the actuator may operate more slowly, fail to achieve its full stroke, or remain partially pressurised, which increases the load on the seals and the mechanism of the controlled function.
What accelerates damage
The greatest threats to pneumatic valves are water, solid particles and excess oil in the compressed air. Festo points out that improperly treated air can accelerate seal wear and cause oil contamination in the control section of the valves. In practice, the initial symptom is often a slower return of the actuator or erratic operation, before a clear leak becomes apparent.
If, after replacing the valve, the new component quickly starts to stick or leak air, the cause may be condensation, dirt from the pipe, or excess oil from the system. If you do not remove the source of contamination, simply replacing the valve may not prevent another failure.
Fitting instructions
- Before dismantling, label the hoses according to their function, as the distributor has five connections and swapping the hoses may alter the operation of the pedals or actuators,
- Hoses in quick-release couplings should be pushed in as far as they will go; if they are not pushed in far enough, this may initially cause an apparently minor leak, which worsens during operation,
- Do not select parts based solely on hose diameter — also check for an 8/10 mm pin and a 36 mm mounting spacing,
- After installation, check the operation of each controlled circuit separately and the behaviour of the actuators when the pedal is released.
The black Type C valve manifold is designed for the pneumatic control system of a tyre changer and has connections for 8 mm diameter hoses.

Frequently Asked Questions
What cables do I need for my two-post lift?
Check the rope termination. If there are any markings on it, the total rope length is very often indicated as well, e.g., L8920. This means the rope length is 8.92 m.
Additionally, to correctly select the rope, you need to provide the following technical parameters:
- Rope diameter – measured in the middle section (e.g., 8 mm, 9 mm or 10 mm)
- Thread – diameter (e.g., M16)
- Thread – length – length of the threaded section (e.g., 14 cm)
The drawing below shows the parameters that must be provided when ordering the rope:
What is my machine's model?
- Find the nameplate on the device – it usually contains key information, such as:
- Manufacturer
- Device model
- Year of manufacture
- Serial number
- If you cannot find the nameplate and do not have the technical documentation, selecting parts based on the model may be difficult. In this situation, we recommend searching for parts by category, photos, and dimensions, which often allows you to precisely match the correct component.
Can I return or exchange the part if it doesn't fit?
If the ordered part doesn’t fit, you can return or exchange it within 30 days of the purchase date.
For the return to be accepted, the part must:
- be unused and undamaged,
- show no signs of installation,
- be sent back in its original or appropriately secured packaging.
We care about your shopping experience, so the return process is quick and hassle-free. If you have any doubts, contact us – we’ll be happy to help you choose the right part or guide you through the return process.
